STRAINER INSERTS

Beside the standard strainer types, Georg Schünemann also designs and manufactures customized strainers according to customer requirements. We keep many perforated plates, stainless steel meshes and slot wedge wire pipes in different sizes and grades of filtration on stock. This ensures a flexible and short delivery time.

SLOT WEDGE WIRE STRAINER

The slot wedge wire strainer is a welded stainless steel construction. It is made of surface profiles, usually V-shaped, that are resistance welded onto support profiles. The distance between the surface profiles is controlled very accurately and forms the slot opening for the medium. Slot wedge wire strainers are characterized by low pressure drop and long lifetimes. The V-shaped wires allow a so called “surface filtration” which leads to an easy cleaning by back flushing or mechanical cleaning.

BASKET STRAINER

The basket strainer consists of a perforated support plate, optionally covered with cloths made of various materials having different mesh widths. The strainer mantle is welded to a round, closed base plate and a supporting ring. The mesh width of the cloth and the materials have to be selected according to the operational conditions. As a standard design, the support plate will be provided with a 5 mm circular perforation at a spacing of 8 mm. The mesh width of the cloth can be 10 up to 1000 μm. For larger grades of filtration, a perforated plate without any cloth will be used as a standard design. The basket strainer will be flown through from the inside to the outside, so that the dirt will remain within the basket which will easily be cleaned by turning it over and washing it using a detergent. The most important features of the basket strainer are a simple, stout design and an easy cleaning. It can equally be designed as a duplex strainer. In this case, the internal basket will be used as a preliminary filter. By means of the duplex strainer, a coarse/fine filtration will be enabled.

RING-TYPE STRAINER

The ring-type strainer consists of two strainer mantles welded to a ring plate and a round cover in such a manner that the filter medium will enter a ring channel and emerge via the mantle areas. This is how a filter area which - depending on the nominal width - is 20 to 60 times as large as the cross section of the connection will be provided within a small space. The strainer mantles consist of perforated support plates, optionally covered with cloths made of various materials having different mesh widths. The mesh with of the cloth and the materials have to be selected according to the operational conditions. As a standard design, the support plates will be provided with a 5 mm circular perforation at a spacing of 8 mm. The mesh width of the cloth can be 10 up to 1000 μm. For larger grades of filtration, a perforated plate without any cloth will be used as a standard design. The mantle areas will be flown through from the inside to the outside, so that the dirt will remain within the ring channel. The larger filter area will allow longer cleaning periods than in case of the basket strainer. We would recommend the use of basket and ring type strainers for the filtration of media e.g. fuel oil, hydraulic fluids, water and chemical liquids.

CONICAL STRAINER / START-UP STRAINER

Our product portfolio includes conical strainers in entirely welded design. The sealing surfaces are being machined after welding. The open screen area is approximately 150 percent of the free pipe cross section. The differential pressure in clean conditions is approximately 0,1 bar. The maximum operational differential pressure is: up to DN250 = 1 bar / from DN300 = 0,5 bar. Conical strainers can be used for continuous filtration or as start-up strainers.
